Quite literally the best book out there for anyone interested in strength training, fitness or anatomy in general. 

The book is broken down into target muscle groups: back, chest, legs etc. This latest edition even has sections on stretching and injuries.

Every exercise is broken down in this book with great information and even better illustrations. The last few pages have great illustrations on muscles and the skeleton; listing muscle and bone names. Get clued up on what you're training!





The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition by Anita Bean

A great book on nutrition for anyone wanting to learn more on the subject, especially related to sport. 

Easy to follow chapters bring you closer to protein requirements, vitamins and minerals, hydration etc. There are fantastic sections written specifically for female athletes and vegetarian athletes. This latest edition has even more research behind it from the International Olympic Committee to the American Dietetic Association. 

Anita is an accomplished sportsperson and winner of three major achievement awards in sports nutrition.





Anatomy & Physiology for Dummies

Don't be a dummy! Learn your anatomy and improve your health and fitness journey. The Dummies guides are world leading in informative guides and this is a great addition to your bookshelf.

This book is not specifically targeted at people trying to improve their fitness and strength, but having greater knowledge and understanding of what is going on inside your body and how training might affect it, is a massive help.

Good diagrams, even better information. Get learning!

To meet your goals you'll need to progress. Be it kilos, calories burnt, reps. Who can remember exactly what they did before? Jot down your progress in the gym and see your improvement before your very eyes. Log PR's, good workouts and goals. 

One of your greatest tools in the gym, a notebook and pen. Any old notebook will do, but this one is handy.
